The Solidion story

2015Technology roots

A convergence of innovation and strategic vision.

Solidion builds upon and expands the technology portfolio of its predecessor, Honeycomb Battery Co. (HBC), founded in 2015 and a subsidiary of Global Graphene Group (G3) from 2016.

The company holds over 525 patents globally — 355 in the United States and 170 in foreign jurisdictions — covering next-generation battery technologies. HBC/G3 won the R&D100 award in 2018 for its Silicon Anode Material, was ranked among the top two U.S. leaders in solid-state electrolytes by KnowMade in December 2021, and was identified as a top startup in lithium-ion silicon anode technology by KnowMade in April 2022. A Nikkei Economics report ranked the portfolio number one in the world for sodium-ion battery IP value.

Solidion's all-solid-state battery platform is designed to be manufactured at scale using current lithium-ion cell production facilities, targeting extended EV range, improved safety, lower cost per kWh, fast time-to-market and next-generation cathodes that can replace expensive nickel and cobalt with sulfur and other abundant elements.
